Development and Communications Director
Space 4 Art (S4A) is looking for a Director who shares our passion for revolutionizing the arts scene in San Diego. We are a fast-paced, fast-growing 501c(3) not for profit art center.
In 2009 S4A leased three historic warehouses in East Village. Hundreds of volunteers worked for thousands of hours to create 34 affordable studios, five live/work spaces, two galleries, a large multi-media outdoor theater, and a classroom. Besides building walls, S4A members havebuilt bridges across cultural divides; an enthusiastic spirit of place has created a community of artists that connects people in the neighborhood and attracts artists and art supporters from the broader metro area.
Space 4 Art is the place where computer music resonates, homeless teenagers tell their stories on stage, grad students experiment with dance and lighting, internationally famous dancers and musicians perform, and elementary students show their recycled object art. These events are possible because artists, friends, arts supporters, residents of the homeless shelter, and high school interns volunteer to staff events.
